Jets sign Schilens, Stanton

The Jets announced today that they have agreed to contracts with former Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton and wide receiver Chaz Schilens, most recently with the Oakland Raiders.

Each man will slot in as the second option at his position. Stanton was a second round pick of the Lions in 2007, but lost his role as their quarterback of the future when they used the first overall pick in 2009 on Matthew Stafford, coming off a terrible 0-16 season in 2007.
